Promoting Change

Change is something that most people desire. I believe that change is something we should not only desire, but also promote. Most would ask the question, How is that possible? Before I answer your question, I believe that it’s important for all of us to know that we can’t change anyone. All we can do is share with them the one who is able to change them. All we can do is promote (encourage) change. How do we promote change through the Good news of Christ? Below I’m going to share with you 5 things that I believe helps us with that.

  1. GIVE GOD GLORY IN ALL THINGS.

First, we must be committed to glorifying God in all things. When we are committed to bringing all the glory to God it means that we acknowledge His greatness and give Him honor by giving Him the praise that He deserves.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. ( 1 Corinthians 10:31)

  1. TEACH GOD’S WORD IN TRUTH.

Second, we promote change by teaching God’s Word in truth. Real change happens when God’s Word is effectively taught and applied.

Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. (1 Timothy 2:14-15)

  1. EFFECTIVE EVANGELISM.

Third, we promote change through effective evangelism. Effective evangelism begins first by sharing the Gospel with unbelievers. It’s extremely important for them to know that because everyone breaks God’s perfect law by committing sin, everyone is guilty. The punishment for the sin is death and then an eternity spent in hell. Because all are guilty of sin and condemned to spend eternity in a place of torment is very bad news. But God, because of His love for the world, has made a way for man to be forgiven for their sins. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take the sins of man on Himself through death on a cross. In placing our sin on Christ, God ensured that all who will believe in the name of Jesus will be forgiven.

Effective evangelism doesn’t end with sharing the gospel and conversion of the unbeliever. When your evangelism is effective it means that you are going to walk out life with them encouraging them to live according to the scriptures.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the father and the son and the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I commanded you and lo I am with you always even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20)

  1. WHOLE-HEARTED WORSHIP.

Fourth, we promote change by being committed to whole hearted worship. It means that as a body we endeavor to be completely sincere in our worship to God.

But an hour is coming, and is now here,  when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship Him. God is spirit,  and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:23-24)

  1. OBEDIENT LIVING.

Finally, we promote change through obedient living. One of the most effective ways to promote change, is by the way that you live. What better way to show someone Jesus by you being obedient to Him. Obedience to God’s commands shows genuine fellowship with Him. It’s carrying out the will of God. If we love God, we will obey Him, not always and not perfectly, but our desire is to obey Him and our lives give evidence of that desire.

And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. (1 John 2:3-6)

Through the way we live our lives, let’s promote change!!!
